20 unsafe conditions in the lab. Be specific i.e. test tubes by sink
can easily fall down and break. In Part 2, write your own top ten list of
safety rules. |

Given that the previous lab was pretty unsafe, you should
consider what should happen in a safe lab. Using your text from page ix to xi
in the opening section, state your ten most important safety rules for
any science lab. Answers will vary a lot!
1.
Do not taste touch or smell any chemicals unless
instructed to do so .
2.
Know where all safety equipment is and how to
use it .
3.
Listen and follow all of the teacherŐs
instructions .
4.
Clean up any spills immediately .
5.
Keep laboratory area clear of clutter .
6.
Dispose of chemicals according to teacherŐs
instructions .
7.
Always use safety goggles when working with
chemicals .
8.
Tie back hair and fasten loose clothing when
using a Bunsen burner .
9.
Clean and put away all equipment when you are
done .
10.
Handle hot metal and glassware carefully (it
looks the same as cold metal or glassware!) .
