Our meetings are informative, friendly and fun! Here you will be kept up to date with what is going on in our school. We have our own personal W.J. Mouat informer. Who is that? Well let me tell you ... He is our very own, approachable and beloved principal, Mr. Rob Comeau. He attends our meetings regularly and makes sure we are the most well informed parents we can be.

We also have a wonderful Parent Education module that is part of our PAC evening. This is our time to learn about what programs and support are available in the school for our children and how we can assist in our children's success. Not only that, it is our time to learn and enjoy new experiences together.

How do we get the ideas for our Parent Education modules. Well, we gather ideas from you, our parents, through brainstorming with you and collecting your suggestions. After all, this is your PAC evening and we want to know it is worth your time being here. What is important to you? Do you have any ideas on topics, workshops, speakers, etc. for the upcoming new school year that you would like us to consider for future Parent Education modules? We are open to your suggestions so please let someone on the PAC executive know or write your ideas down and give it in at the office with ATTN: PAC Chair on it. We would love to hear from you!

Our PAC meetings are generally on the third Tuesday of the month. Do look at the scheduled dates below for the PAC topics for 2006-2007 and mark them on your calendar.

Come join us and check us out. After you do, you will know what a great PAC we have! And hey, what can one expect when you are a part of it. Oh, by the way, we also have some great refreshments too!

* The Panic Squad (www.panicsquad.com) performs at this event as a PAC funded initiative *

The Night To Remember grade 12 lock-in event is now approaching the final planning stages.  A team of dedicated grade 12 parents have worked effortlessly for the last 5 months planning this fabulous event for the grads.  Information meetings for parents have been held monthly in the school theatre on the first Monday of each month since November 2006.  The volunteer sign up sheets are slowly filling up with parent names, but we still need many more volunteers to bring this night to fruition and without stretching a few volunteers thin.   A minimum of 2 hours volunteer time is all that's requested from all grade 12 parents.   Many parents choose to stay longer and some choose to stay all day and all night.

 2007 Event Chairs -  Pam Chapman - Pamela.Chapman@shaw.ca and Caryn Zimmerman - caryn_zimmerman@sd34.bc.ca

The Decorating Committee chaired by Doreen Buhler and Joan Naples is in full swing.  Volunteers have been getting together now at Doreen's home for a few weeks of cutting, sewing, gluing, painting, etc.    Usually the way decorating works is if you are on the Bingo Room team, you help to decorate this room, if you are on the Casino team, you help to decorate this room, so on and so on.  If you would like to help out with creating some awesome decorations and props for this event, all ideas are welcomed.  please contact Doreen at Doreen_Tim_Buhler@hotmail.com for her address.

Set up and decorating on event day will commence promptly at 3pm Friday, May 11th.  Runners and drivers will also be needed all day.

Food Committee - Carol Neumann is our Chair and this team is busy collecting food donations from the various businesses around town.  Closer to event date, volunteers will be needed to help with , then sort out and cut, prepare food for event night, and then during event night a team of volunteers will be needed to assist with BBQuing at the beginning of the night and to keep the foods/beverage table full of goodies for the kids.   We serve food all night long!   If you can help in this area, please contact Carol at neumie@telus.net and she will be happy to sign you up as a volunteer for this committee.

Each grade 12 parent will be asked to donate a food/beverage item for this night.  Snack items, juice boxes, pop, water bottles, fruit, meat trays, cheese trays, baked goods, etc.

Volunteers - this committee is chaired by Diane Hildebrand and Angela Zurowski.  They are responsible for assigning shift times and specific areas for all volunteers.  There are various sub committees under the heading of volunteers including First Aid Team, Inside Security Team, Registration Table, Coat Check Room, Bingo Room, Casino and General Volunteers (floaters).     If you have signed up under one or more of these areas, you will be contacted closer to event time.

We will need approx. 200 parent volunteers to ensure that this event runs smoothly all night long.

Donations/Prizes Committee - Michele Leece is in charge of soliciting our wonderful community for monetary and prize donations for this event.  If you would like to assist Michele with soliciting the community members for donations tothis event, or if you (or your employer is) are in a position to provide a financial donation please contact Michele at michele@mainlandmachinery.com She will be happy to take your money and to put you to work!    The Night To Remember Committee Members are grateful for any donation or contribution received to assist with this event.  Financial donations of $50 or more will receive a tax receipt.  In order to receive a tax receipt for your contribution of $50 or more, please make your cheque payable to School District 34 Abbotsford and reference W.J. Mouat Night To Remember 2007.    We thank you for your support.   Please take any donations or prize contributions to the school office attention Geoff Davies, VP.

Phoning Committee - Lydia Reese Chair, has a team of volunteer parents phoning every grade 12 parent about the Night To Remember information meeting nights and updating information.    If you get a call or a phone message from Lydia or a parent volunteer saying it';s about the Night To Remember please take the time to return the phone call or acknowlege the message.  Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.  The phoning team are doing their best to ensure that our ethnic parents are contacted so if you can assist with this job, get in touch with Lydia at lydia.reese@gmail.com

Events/Activities have been co-ordinated by Gaby Jaroszuk and her committee of volunteers.   All of the evening's entertainment and activities have been booked and arranged months in advance in order to get the very best in entertainment for this event.  We have arranged for a team of professional entertainers to come onboard and provide magic, music, dancing, karaoke, characatures (cartoon drawings), tattoo artistty, improv comedy, balloon artistry and much more.

So....after reading all of this, you won't be able to stay away, you will want to stop by on event night and see everything.  Don't worry about your son or daughter telling you they don't want you there.....those are just words, you won't see them and they won't see you - you'll both be too busy doing what you're doing!     So come onboard, be an MVP (Mouat Volunteer Parent) just for one night - we promise you won't be disappointed!

You'll notice we haven't mentioned the theme here at all,   well that's because it's supposed to a big surprise!  If you want to know more, then you'll have to contact someone and find out, but remember it's a secret :)

Contact any one of the above committee members by their respective email or wjmouatpac@sd34.bc.ca  for additional information

W.J. Mouat PAC and the 2007 Night To Remember Planning Committee thanks you for your support of this event for our graduating children.
